Olga Gul’vanova isb a wonderful actress
of Alexandrinsky theatre, whose roles of Olga in the play
“Romances with Oblomov”, peasant Efrosinia, the lover of
prince Alexei in the play “Story about tzar Peter and his
murdered son prince Alexei”, Donia Elvira in Molier’s “Don
Juan” are well known, the mono play “Old years in the
village of Plodomasovo” based on N.Leskov’s story (director
G.Byzgu) was the most significant recent work. During the
career in Alexandrinsky theatre Olga Gilvanova has played
more than 30 roles.
The actress prepared the play “Time is night” almost
by herself resorting to advice of many directors. It
continued for more than 2 years while the original intention
was seriously transformed and finally came to the present
status performed in front of numerous critical viewers. Olga
Gilvanova started stage reading of Ludmila Petrushevskaya’s
prose even when the writer was forbidden. The actress says:
“I would like to make a small contribution in dissolving the
myth that Petrushevskaya is a black story maker. Some people
think so but I totally disagree with them. I suppose she is
incorrigible romantic and can see extraordinary things in
our everyday life”.

Starring: Olga Gilvanova
The actress of Alexandrinsky theatre graduated from
Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and
Cinematography in 1991. After graduation she joined the
theatre company. During the first seasons she played several
different roles.
The role of peasant girl Efrosonia, the lover of prince
Alexei in the play “Story about tzar Peter and his murdered
son Alexei” of F.Gorenstein (director – Alexander Galibin,
1997) was a landmark in Olga Gilvanova’s career. The next
role was Donia Elvira in Molier’s “Don Juan” (director –
Gennady Trostyanetsky, 2000).
The mono play “Old years in the village of Plodomasovo”
based on N.Leskov’s story (director G.Byzgu, 2003) was the
most significant recent work. Today the repertoire of
actress includes the role of officer (Dostoevsky’s “The
double”, director V.Fokin, 2005), Anna M. Karenina (L.N.
Tolstoy’s “Living corpse”, 2006).
