St. Petersburg people know Sokolova as the leading
actress of the Theatre for Young Spectators named after
Bryansev. Her roles include Nastya (“Once lived a girl”),
Ivan (“Two maples”), Timmy (“Timmy, the peer of mammoth”),
Dyushka (“Spring turncoats”), Ophelia (“Hamlet”), a cat (“A
cat who wandered herself”), Agraphena Kondratievna (“We’re
relatives-get even”) etc. Since 1999 Irina Sokolova plays in
performances of Anatoly Praudin on the Experimental stage of
Baltiysky Dom theatre.
Irina Sokolova is one of the favorite actresses of Roman
Viktyuk. At the same time Irina Sokolova is the unique
actress, maestro Viktyuk staged his only monoplay “Eleonora,
the last night in Pittsburg” especially for her.
Guests of the Northern capital know Irina Sokolova for
her roles in the cinema: the actress played in 5 films of
Alexander Sokurov: “The demoted” (1980), “Mournful lack of
senses” (1983-1987), “Days of eclipse” (1988), “Molokh”
(1999, the role of Hebbels), “A calf” (2000). The total
amount of cinema roles is about 50.
During the Recital viewers had the unique opportunity to
see the parts of different year plays (staging of
Z.Ya.Korogodsky, A.A.Andreev, R.G.Viktyuk). It included some
of plays which are not in the theatrical repertoire any more
and were reconstructed only of January, 19. The actress
showed several dramatic styles beginning from travesty (it
is known among spectators of the Theatre for Young
Spectators named after Bryansev) up to characteristic
actress of extra-emotional theatre of “transfigurations and
perversions” of Roman Viktyuk. There was also the
traditional dialogue with the audience.
