Exhibition
“Ludmila Petrushevskaya in
gardens of other opportunities”
Anna Akmatova’s Museum in the Fountain House
St. Petersburg, February 20 — March, 8 2009
Ludmila Petrushevskaya’s personal exhibitions took place
in Moscow: in Literature Museum, Tret’yakovskaya gallery and
Artistic gallery, but it was the first time when her works
were shown in St. Petersburg. Besides the well-known
water-colours of the series “Rose mania” and the author’s
self-portraits (including the famous portrait in black hat)
people of St. Petersburg could admire new works of the
series “Tango” and “Model’s song” as well as original comic
strips which are to be published in the book “Five days
before tomorrow”.
The exhibition allowed visitors not only to familiarize
with artistic works of Ludmila Petrushevskaya but also
plunge into the unique atmosphere of her literary works.
Children’s part of the exposition provided access to a small
pig Peter’s house, children could play there and watch
animated cartoons drawn by Ludmila Petrushevskaya and voiced
by her grand and great grand children, drink tea with a
kitten Sashka and dog Marusya sitting under the money tree
which included not only leaves-banknotes but also almost all
the content of the “rubbish trunk”. The door named
“M-psychosis” opened the dark and tragic world of Ludmila
Petrushevskaya’s prose for adults. Some attention was also
paid to dramaturgy reminding about legendary performances of
1970-1990s, the exhibition showed visitors a number of
modern plays which were shown in one of halls of the
Fountain House.
