On November, 1 2008 the Concert hall “Near Finland railway station” hosted the recital Ludmila Petrushevskaya “In gardens of other opportunities”.

Visitors came to a spacious hall, lights went down and the writer’s voice greeting spectators came from the silence. A screen on the stage switched on and the recital started. The first event was showing of miraculously preserved record of a part of Petrushevskaya’s play “Colombina’s flat”, Avangard Leontiev and Lia Akhedzhakova starring. Then the writer came following the applause.

Ludmila Petrushevskaya read her enigmatic fairy-tales and poems-paradoxes, showed animated cartoons created by home “studio of hand labour”. Then an instrumental ensemble and a huge microphone appeared on the stage and Ludmila Petrushevskaya turned out in a new image of cabaret chansonnier. Compositions of the famous “One Author Cabaret”, the writer’s favorite project sounded from the stage. Ludmila Petrushevskaya demonstrated wonderful voice and diapason as well as good sense of humor singing well-known English, French, German and Polish hits in her own free translations.

“It appears to be the most difficult labour to perform on the stage” — answered the writer following numerous encore applause, thus, finishing the recital.
