| In the
framework of International Forum “Empire. Four dimensions of
Andrei Bitov” on October, 3 2007 there was the first night
of play “Penelopa” based on A. Bitov’s story with the same
title on the state of Lensovet theatre. The story “Penelopa”
was staged for the first time.
The story was written by A.Bitov when he was 25, it is a
masterpiece of the XXth century Russian prose. Suddenly
Lobyshev realizes that he hasn’t been a genuine free man and
always acted looking at others, thus he hasn’t been living
true life. He doesn’t correspond to reality not due to
ideology by existence matters. In this framework Lobyshev
differs from the majority of literary heroes of 1960s.
